- Length guidelines are rules of thumb, not Google requirements.

Questions about this tool
What is the best title length?
Aim for roughly 30 to 60 characters and put the important words first. Search results cut titles by pixel width, around 600 pixels on desktop, so there is no exact limit.
Does the meta description affect rankings?
Not directly. It can influence whether people click your result, and Google may show it as the snippet when it matches the search.
Why does Google show a different title?
Google rewrites titles when it thinks another version describes the page better, for example when the title is missing, too long or stuffed with keywords.
